Intelligent Reflecting Surface Aided Multi-User Communication: Capacity Region and Deployment Strategy

چکیده

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is a new promising technology that able to reconfigure the wireless propagation channel via smart and passive signal reflection. In this paper, we investigate capacity region of two-user communication network with one access point (AP) aided by M IRS elements for enhancing user-AP channels, where incurs negligible delay, thus channels follow classic discrete memoryless model. particular, consider two practical deployment strategies lead different effective between users AP, namely, distributed form IRSs, each deployed in vicinity user, versus centralized all are AP. First, uplink multiple-access (MAC) derive capacity/achievable rate regions both under multiple schemes. It shown generally outperforms symmetric setups terms achievable user rates. Next, extend results downlink broadcast (BC) leveraging celebrated uplink-downlink (or MAC-BC) duality framework, show superior performance over also holds. Numerical presented validate our analysis, reveal useful insights optimal networks.

Performance Analysis of cooperative SWIPT System: Intelligent Reflecting Surface versus Decode-and-Forward

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...

Intelligent Wireless Video Communication: Source Adaptation and Multi-User Collaboration

A key challenge to the vision of ubiquitous mobile multimedia access is the communication resource limitation in multiple access wireless channels. In this paper we review several source adaptation techniques and wireless collaboration schemes. We then formulate the multi-user video communication problem as a network utility maximization (NUM) problem., and solve it using a pricing scheme. The ...

Multi - User Communication Systems : Capacity , Duality , and Cooperation

In this thesis we investigate the capacity of multi-user wireless communication channels. We first establish a duality relationship between the Gaussian broadcast and multiple-access channels. This relationship allows us to characterize the capacity region of the Gaussian broadcast channel in terms of the dual Gaussian multiple-access channel, and vice versa. This relationship holds for constan...

investigation of single-user and multi-user detection methods in mc-cdma systems and comparison of their performances
